Two public officials and five representatives of economic agents were detained in cases of corruption. According to the National Anticorruption Center (NAC), more than 60 searches were conducted on Monday morning within 30 criminal cases started on acts of corruption in public procurement, committed in complicity with a number of economic agents.

It was established that during 2024, public figures of the General Urban Mobility Division of the Chisinau Municipal Council, responsible for the public procurement process, systematically accepted goods, advantages or money from individuals and legal entities in order to award public procurement contracts.

These are contracts for the construction or repair of sidewalks, the roadway for public transport, access roads to courtyards. Also, in exchange for illicit remuneration, the suspects issued permissive documents for the indicated works and ensured the final receipt of the sidewalks and roads. The charged commission constituted about 10-15% of the value of these contracts.

As a result of the investigations carried out by the NAC, at least 20 episodes of public procurement fraud were identified and documented. By this hour, during the searches carried out, evidence relevant to the criminal investigation was seized, including documents, drafts and sums of money, the origin of which is to be established.
