Ex-presidential advisor Sergiu Mocanu suggests setting up a border on the right bank of Nistru River – the Transnistrian segment – so that Moldova could join the European Union without the eastern districts. “Detaching the Transnistrian problem from the European integration issue is not an attempt on Moldova’s independence, but the only solution for the integration of our country and for getting back in time the territory on the left bank of the Nistru River”, Serigu Mocanu told a press conference on Wednesday, September 26. The ex-presidential advisor refused to name the members of the initiative group - the People’s Action - on whose behalf he spoke. Meanwhile, Sergiu Mocanu said that in half a year a new political party will be formed, as a result of the opinion flow created when the initiative entitled “Towards EU only with the territory we control” was published. Previously, similar ideas have already been discussed in political circles in Chisinau and Moscow. However, this is the first time that someone engages in transforming them into a national strategy.
