The Moldovan canoeist Serghei Tarnovschi has won the 500 m sprint silver medal at the European Championships in Munich.

Tarnovschi was clocked at 1:48.160, being only surpassed by the Czech Martin Fuksa, with 1:47.183. The podium was completed by Romania’s Cătălin Chirilă, with 1:48.364.

Serghei Tarnovschi also competed in the 1000 m final, where he placed 4th. It was in event that he managed to win the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo last year.

Serghei Tarnovschi, originally from Ukraine, won the silver medal at the European Championships in 2016 and 2021. This year, he became the 5000 m world champion.
