The sellers that will cheat the buyers by scales or will sell products with the shelf life expired or with no shelf life indicated will be punished more severely. The Government approved a bill to modify the Code on Administrative Contraventions on January 30. It envisions the doubling or even trebling of the fines for irregularities in trade, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The Code was supplemented with new articles that provide for fines of 50 to 1,500 conventional units (1 c.u. is equal to 20 lei) for carrying out commercial activities without authorisation, and for fines of 200 to 2,500 c.u. for carrying out commercial activities with the suspended authorisation.
The sale of a product that is not stipulated in the contract and the unjustified refusal to sell a product or provide a service will be punished with a fine of 100 to 200 c.u.
Under the bill, the violation of the working timetable fixed by the local public authorities, the lack of price indicators and menus or the drawing up of menus by breaking the rules will be severely punished. The sale of merchandise designed to be used for a long term without indicating the guarantee term in the accompanying documents and without technical passport or other substitute documents, and by not translating the information about the conditions of efficient and inoffensive utilisation of the imported goods into the state language or into other languages, as stipulated by the legislation, will be also punished.
Higher fines will be applied for selling merchandise, which must be compulsorily certified, without certificates of compliance or compliance mark; for producing, selling, transporting or keeping counterfeit alcoholic drinks and for violating the rules of retailing alcoholic drinks.
The authorities consider that the given amendments will make the traders observe the rules in the commercial activity, will improve the organised trade and minimise non-organised one and will contribute to the implementation of the law on consume protection. All these amendments will be submitted to the Parliament for consideration.
