Parliament’s Legal Commission has extended by one week the application deadline in the selection process held to fill a vacant seat on the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP), after neither of the registered applicants has made it to the interview phase, IPN reports.
Only two candidates – civil servants Serghei Pleșca and Vasile Goian – applied before the original deadline, but both have been disqualified for not meeting the key criteria of representing civil society.
Besides civil society affiliation, the sought candidate must hold Moldovan citizenship and must have worked at least three years in the legal field.
The selection process is held in two steps: the application admission phase, and the interview. The applicant with the highest score will be presented to Parliament for confirmation.
