Seizure of jewelry with false hallmarks: over 900 precious metal and gemstone items confiscated

Over 940 items made of precious metals and gemstones with false hallmarks have been discovered and confiscated following searches conducted in multiple locations across the country, IPN reports.

The Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases, together with the State Tax Service, uncovered a network of companies selling these products without following the official hallmarking procedure.

The searches led to the seizure of numerous accounting documents, registers, and video recordings, which will be analyzed by investigators.

Company executives are under investigation in the criminal case, suspected of manufacturing and applying false hallmarks to evade legal costs and inspections.

Investigations are ongoing.
