An employee of a security company based in Chisinau was sentenced to 3 years and 10 months in prison for violence against men. Prosecutors proved that in 2019, the 27-year-old security guard responded to two emergency calls and unjustifiably use violence, IPN reports.
In the first case, the guard assaulted a man and used tear gas against him. On the night of May 16, 2019, he, together with a mate, assaulted a man on Vadul lui Vodă St in Chisinau. The victim was punched and exposed to tear gas, suffering a concussion, chemical burns to the eyes and other injuries.
The use of violence was considered excessive and inappropriate. The defendant's mate in 2021 was given a three-year suspended sentence and this sentence was upheld by the appeals court.
In the second case, on November 12, 2019, the same security guard assaulted another man in Ciocana sector, causing him minor injuries.
In addition to the 3 years and 10 months behind bars, the man was banned from working in the security field for 5 years. In court, the defendant pleaded not guilty. The Buiucani Court of Chisinau City’s sentence can be appealed.
