A private kindergarten located in Rascani district of Chisinau faces the risk of being sold because the company that secured it is unable to pay the loan taken out from a bank. The kindergarten is attended by 300 children. If a solution is not found and the bank sells the kindergarten, the children will be unable to attend other kindergartens as all of them are crowded.
The head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport Tatiana Nagnibeda-Tverdohleb has told IPN that the kindergarten was once state property, but was sold to a company when the country was controlled by the Communists. Thus, the municipality cannot take over the institution without a court decision.
The municipal administration sent letters to the bank, asking it to stop the procedure for selling the kindergarten. They are considering the possibility of the Chisinau City Hall purchasing it after the situation is assessed by a group of experts.
