A lawyer was detained and another one is being investigated on the outside on suspicion that they asked for and received €1,000 to €5,000 from persons in detention and their relatives in order to influence judges' decisions when examining the applications of particular convicts, IPN reports.

Law enforcement officers carried out searches in the municipality of Balti, in four criminal cases joined into a single procedure. The criminal investigation was initiated for passive and active corruption and influence peddling.

The National Anticorruption Center is conducting searches under the procedural leadership of the Balti Prosecutor's Office, in order to identify and investigate all the persons involved.
