Searches at a farm in Florești. Owner accused of labor exploitation

The owner of a farm in Florești district is suspected of exploiting a woman and a man through labor. The victims were treated like slaves and the man was also beaten. The police, with the support of "Fulger" Brigade officers, raided the farm, IPN reports.

According to the General Police Inspectorate, the 50-year-old suspect hired a woman and a man in 2023 and paid them about 1,000 lei only a few times. The 44-year-old woman was forced to milk the sheep, and the 51-year-old man was forced to graze them. To make him work without interruption, the man was beaten.

Following the raid, the man was transported to the hospital with injuries, including bone fractures. Subsequently, the two persons were placed in a rehabilitation center for victims of human trafficking, for medical care and health restoration.

After he was detained, the farm owner was charged with the exploitation of the two victims through labor. Subsequently, at the request of prosecutors, the defendant was placed in preventive detention for 30 days based on a decision made by the Ciocana Court of Chisinau City.

The police said that in 2013, the owner of the farm was convicted of kidnapping a person, and in 2015, the defendant was charged with attempted theft in his native village.
