The key problem in selling businesses is the search for investors, consider 42% of the respondents of an opinion poll conducted by Business Broker Consulting in a move to find out the main problems encountered by those that want to sell their businesses. Some 25% of those questioned said that the principal problem is the lack of information about potential buyers, the demand and the procedure for transferring the rights. 20% of the respondents said the assessment of the business is also a major problem. 7% said this about the lack of legal assistance and 6% about the lack of consultations. Director of Business Broker Consulting Marina Balan says that a business cannot be properly estimated in Moldova owing to the shadow economy. Most of the times, the owners overestimate their business and this hinders considerably its sale. The consultancy and legal assistance are defining factors in the sale-purchase process, but there are not experts in the area. At the same time, the supply of functional small and medium-sized businesses is very small. Therefore, the consultancy companies offer their services to those that want to sell their businesses so that both of the sides have a gain, Balan said.
