School year closed, students of upper grades prepare for exams

About 360,000 students attended school year closing festivities all over the country on May 31, alongside parents, teachers and officials. Prime Minister elect Iurie Leanca rang the ‘last bell’ at the Theatrical Lyceum “Gheorghe Asachi” in Chisinau. He wished a nice vacation to the children and good luck to the students who are to take graduation exams, IPN reports.

“This is my first event as Prime Minister and I’m convinced that it will be memorable for me. I came here not because the lyceum is situated close to the Government, but because it is one of the best and oldest schools in Moldova,” said Iurie Leanca, promising he will make effort to improve teachers’ working conditions.

Ioan Ciuntu, Bishop of “Saint Theodora de la Sihla” Church, blessed the students, wishing them a peaceful and pleasant vacation.

The lyceum’s director Boris Volosatyi said the class that will graduate the school this year is the 149th. “The school year is coming to an end. We grew older and became better. This thing was proven by the over 500 students of the lyceum who were awarded diplomas and prizes at Olympiads and contests,” he stated.

The event ended with the transmission of the ‘knowledge torch’ from the current class to the next one. Afterward, the twelfth graders danced the graduation waltz.
