Savga, Moscovici and Popa withdraw from Communists list
Education Minister Larisa Savga, musician Constantin Moscovici and the leader of the Communist faction in the Chisinau council, Svetlana Popa, have been withdrawn from the PCRM's list for parliament.
The Central Election Commission (CEC) Friday okayed the changes in the PCRM's list, after the leaders of the party had made the decision a day before. The Communists ousted 8 candidates, changed the places of 7 candidates and introduced other 8 persons into the list. Among them: the mayor of Vadul lui Voda town, Iuri Onofriiciuc, who is going to suspend his powers as a mayor on March 10.
“It's an internal decision of the Political Council of the PCRM. As a rule this is done because those people are not so active, or have dual citizenship and do not like to renounce it,” said the PCRM's representative at the CEC, Sergiu Sarbu, asked by Info-Prim Neo to comment on the changes.
Larisa Savga and Constantin Moscovici are also Romanian citizens.
Under the Election Code, the modifications in the parties' lists of candidates for the parliament can be operated not later than 7 days before the elections.
