President Maia Sandu said that she will vote in the runoff presidential election of Romania for Elena Lasconi because she is authentic and loves Romania, IPN reports.
"I am confident that, as the Romanians have been throughout history, that Elena Lasconi will fight for the country and will win for the country," the head of state said in a message of support for the Save Romania Union’s candidate.
Maia Sandu said that the most dangerous thing for a nation is when it is gripped by fear and enmity, and she understands that many are worried and are looking for a leader with character who will unite us. In Maia Sandu's opinion, Elena Lasconi can be that courageous leader with love for the Romanians, who will unite and keep Romania on the right path.
"For us, those of the Republic of Moldova, Romania has always been a model to follow. Through the efforts of Romanians, Romania stands today with its head held high in the European Union. The progress can be seen with the naked eye. That is why we also want to be part of the European Union, but we need your help," stressed the President.
Maia Sandu is convinced that Elena Lasconi will not give up the relationship with the Republic of Moldova, but will continue what was started so that it is done together. The head of state urged all the Romanians, at home and abroad, to be united.
"For me and for many others, our peaceful and prosperous future is “YES” to Elena Lasconi!", said the President of the Republic of Moldova.
In the first round of the Romanian presidential election, Elena Lasconi obtained over 56% of the vote in Moldova and in the runoff contends against independent candidate Călin Georgescu.
At the 950 polling stations opened outside the country for the Romanian presidential election, the voting process in the runoff has started. The citizens of the Republic of Moldova with Romanian citizenship are expected to vote at 59 polling stations between 12:00 noon and 09:00 p.m. Voting abroad on Saturday, December 7, and Sunday, December 8, will take place between 07:00 a.m. and 0.9:00 local time.
