As from September 1, the salaries of the medical personnel of public health facilities included in the mandatory health insurance system will be raised by 30% of the basic salary, as the Government decided on July 31, IPN reports.

The pays of ambulance drivers of the Pre-Hospital Emergency Medical Assistance Service and of pilots working for the AVIASAN service will also be increased by 30%. The salaries of doctors and department heads will rise by 50-90%, depending on the professional performance of each of them. If they are involved in the treatment of patients with COVID-19, their pays will be doubled.

After the raises, the new salaries of family doctors will vary between 9,310 lei and 10,970 lei, depending on the length of service.

“The raises will be implemented at a cost of 360 million lei for 2020 and will benefit 42,900 people,” said Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection Viorica Dumbrăveanu.

The Government promised to double the salaries of medical personnel in stages.
