“Apă-Canal Chișinău” SA, which was conferred the Labor Glory order, celebrates 129 years of work, more exactly since it started to supply water to the municipality of Chisinau according to an institutionalized system, in 1892. In the period, thousands of people worked at the company to ensure high-quality services for the consumers. The last few years were marked by technological revitalization. Special emphasis is placed on practices designed to ensure better conditions for end-users, the company said in a press release that is quoted by IPN.
“We want each citizen, inhabitant or visitor of the capital city to realize that the intervention teams of tour company work in very difficult conditions, round-the-clock, regardless of the weather, either it is hot, rainy, windy or cold, so as to perform the necessary repair works. “Apă-Canal Chișinău” is not only a public utility. Its duty is to provide services on which the comfort, civilization of the population and primarily their state of health depend. We are in a permanent development process,” stated the company’s acting director general Anatolie Lichii.
The water supplier’s Common Information Center in the first nine month of this year provided over 90,000 services for consumers. A Call Center is to be created so that any applicant swiftly obtains the necessary information. One of the company’s priorities is to sign contracts for the provision of public water supply and sewage services with customers or potential customers. There were received 13,491 applications and signed 9,871 contracts with consumers.
Each year, special emphasis is put on the renovation of water pipes and sewers that are old. As part of the program to develop water supply services in the municipality of Chisinau that is financed with EBRD and EIB loans and an investment grant provided by the Neighborhood Investment Facility of the EU, under the guarantee of the Chisinau City Hall, with a total budget of €61.8 million, a series of results were achieved, such as the replacement of about 120 km of water pipes in all the districts of Chisinau and also in Vatra, Codru, Tohatin and Durlești.
The wastewater treatment station was rehabilitated. A new mud treatment line was built at a cost of €24.2 million. The works were about 85% executed and are to be completed in the autumn of 2022.
In the immediate period, the supplier aims to extend the range of services and to identify and implement the most advantageous technologies according to cost-effectiveness, by attracting foreign financing for doing research and fulfilling well-defined tasks.
