Russia’s decision to boost gas price is not political – President

In 2006, Russia increased the price of natural gases without any exception and no political component can be observed in natural gas export, Vladimir Voronin, the president of the Republic of Moldova declared on Tuesday, July 11. “This is incompetence to look at this problem from a political point of view. It is clear that even if Moldova will suddenly change its foreign policy, the price of natural gas will not cheapen”. Voronin declared, mentioning that the price of natural gas also increased for Belarus, Armenia and others. According to the head of state, “it is also hard to see the political component in the problem of wine exports, even if Moldova did not receive any official document that would certify the bad quality of wines”. Moldova must redirect the market of agricultural products and “will have to thank Russia that it imposes us to find a new market”, the president also declared. Commenting on the Moldovan-Russian relationships, Voronin recognized that they are not the best ones, but he mentioned that their present level is determined by the Transnistrian conflict, expressing his hope that these relationships will be reestablished.
