The Russian Federation proposes to initiate the process of liquidation of ammunition stored near Cobasna village, in the Transnistrian region of the Republic of Moldova, being ready to provide the necessary equipment for this purpose. The idea was expressed by the Russian Minister of Defense, Sergei Soigu, during a meeting with the President Igor Dodon, IPN reports with reference to a press release of the Presidency.
Igor Dodon believes that implementing this measure will help reduce tension in the region. He assured that the proposal would be conveyed shortly to the participants of 5 + 2 format of Transnistrian conflict settlement.
Sergei Soigu visited the Republic of Moldova on the occasion of his participation in the "75th anniversary of Moldova’s liberation from fascist occupation".
