Ruslan Flocea is new CNA director

Parliament voted today to confirm Ruslan Flocea as director of the National Anticorruption Center (CNA). The former presidential aide was endorsed with by the vote of 72 MPs.

MP Vasile Bolea (PSRM) recalled that the contest to fill the vacant post of CNA director was launched on June 26. On July 22, the Legal Commission examined the candidates' applications in a closed session, and nine applicants were admitted to the interview phase, the final one, which was held July 29. Based on the best score, the Commission has proposed Ruslan Flocea to become CNA director for a five-year term.

Taking questions from MPs on issues such as the practice among public functionaries not to declare their incomes, the informal fees in education, the bank fraud or the mismanagement of the forestry resources, Ruslan Flocea said he will deal with it all.

Ruslan Flocea also said that in 18 years of his career as a civil servant, he put the rule of law in the forefront and legal provisions above political views.

MP Octavian Țîcu (ACUM/DA) said he would not vote for Ruslan Flocea. "I just want to ask the Party of Socialists why this man, who we all know very well is close to President Igor Dodon? Is Igor Dodon scared to such an extent that he had to shun an earnest selection process?”

After taking the oath of office before Parliament, Ruslan Flocea thanked the MPs for the confidence placed in him, promising that he will make every effort to ensure that the results of the institution he will run are in strict compliance with the law.
