Romanian visa issued free of charge - Romanian Embassy in Chisinau
The Romanian Embassy in Chisinau reiterates that visas to enter Romania are issued free of charge and categorically dissociates itself from the practices of certain tour agencies in Moldova which, on their own initiative, charge commission for issuing visas to the applicants, shows a statement of the Romanian diplomatic mission, quoted by Info-Prim Neo.
According to the cited source, certain local tour operators take advantage of the support and facilities offered by the Romanian diplomatic mission through the decision to issue collective and individual visas for tourists and charge commission. Moreover, some mass media institutions in Moldova, specialized advertisements, published diverse announcements according to which Moldovan citizens willing to travel to Romania after January 1, 2007, are offered paid services to rapidly obtain a visa for entering Romania.
Earlier, at of a press conference, the Romanian ambassador Filip Teodorescu stated that visas that are introduced starting from January 1, 2007, once Romania enters the EU, will be a transparent, civilized process, without immense queues in front of the Consulate and registration lists made up by suspect persons.
As the ambassador states, Romania was the last state running for accession that introduced a visa regime for Moldovan citizens. The agreement envisages more facilities, and the visa regime is flexible, asymmetric and free.
