Romanian scenario will not repeat in Moldova, opinions

Though in Moldova there is a draft law on tax amnesty that would free a large part of former and current functionaries who cannot justify their property from liability, the Moldovans most probably will not follow the example of Romania, where the people have protested against the Romanian Government’s initiative on pardoning during several days. The statements were made in the talk show “Politics” on TV7 channel, IPN reports.

Lilia Carasciuc, director of Transparency International Moldova, said that unlike the Republic of Moldova, the state institutions in Romania weren’t all captured. “We do not have what they have. Unlike our country, Romania has state institutions that work. It is also the duty of citizens. The fact that they sprawl and watch TV and do not express their dissatisfaction does not change things,” she stated.

Expert Corneliu Ciurea leveled accusations at civil society. “Some are disappointed in political parties, while I’m disappointed in civil society. I think the whole society should reform. A corrupt citizen does not have the moral right to demand that a functionary should be upright,” he said.

Ex-minister of finance Veaceslav Negruta considers that the Government of Romania learned from the experience of the Moldovan rulers. “During the last few years, the Republic of Moldova turned into a kind of laboratory where all kinds of nocturnal experiences are tested. It seems that other governments also liked these experiences,” he stated.

Journalist Ion Terguta said that unlike the Moldovans, the Romanian citizens really felt what freedom is.
