The Romanian Movie Fest “Three Colors – One Being” will take place between August 24 and 31 in Chisinau, Causeni (birthplace of actor Grigore Grigoriu) and Ulmu village, Ialoveni district.
Zinaida Timofti, member of the Filmmakers' Union of Moldova, told IPN that the event was initiated by the Romanian Union of Film Authors and Producers. Moviegoers are invited to 16 Romanian features.
In Chisinau, the movies will be screened in the square of the St. Teodora of Sihla Cathedral, or, in case of bad weather, at the Gaudeamus Cinema. The films will start at 8 PM and will be presented by a director or an art critic.
The fest kicks off on August 24 with Romania-Film production The Most Beloved of Earthlings, directed by Serban Marinescu. On August 25, another Marinescu film, Califar's Mill, and Sergiu Nicolaescu's The Mirror will be screened.
On Tuesday, August 26, moviegoers will get the chance to see Ion Carmazan's Lisca and Liviu Ciulei's The Forest of the Hanged. The next day, the program offers Moldova-Film's Dimitrie Cantemir, directed by Victor Calasnicov and Vlad Iovita.
In Ulmu village, Ialoveni district, Emil Loteanu's Lautarii will be shown on August 27, the Independence Day. Meanwhile, the townsfolk of Causeni are invited on August 28-30 to watch Dimitrie Cantemir, Mihai the Brave, Procust's Bed, the Forest of the Hanged and Ion: The Curse of the Land, The Curse of Love.
On August 24 and 26, between 6 and 8 PM, the portraits of two great Romanian actors, Ilarion Ciobanu and Costache Antoniu, will be presented at the Mihai Eminescu Theater. On August 29 and 30, student films from Romania and Moldova will be screened at the State University of Moldova between 5 and 7.30 PM. Admission is free.
The fest is organized by the Union of Romania Film Authors and Producers, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Department for Relations with Romanians Everywhere, the Romanian National Cinema Center, Moldova's Ministry of Culture, the Moldovan Union of Filmmakers, Christian-Orthodox Center St. Teodora of Sihla and Cultural Association “Ideal”.
