‘Romanian literature bridges’ between banks of Prut River

Romanian works of literature from both banks of the Prut River were promoted in the general schools and lyceums of three districts of Moldova within an initiative of the Chisinau-based Romanian Cultural Institute “Mihai Eminescu”, IPN reports.

Contacted by phone, the Institute’s vice director Nichita Danilov said the Moldovan readers are receptive not only when it is about literature, but also to the cultural phenomenon in general. The three Moldovan and two Romanian writers who paid visits to the districts spoke to the young people about the contemporary literature and the literature of the past.

“You have a healthy basis here in Bessarabia. We will continue the ‘books bridge’ in order to familiarize the Moldovan public with a wide range of books of Romanian writers,” said Nichita Danilov.

Andrei Nicolescu, main reviewer at the Romanian Cultural Institute “Mihai Eminescu”, said that this year’s event covered the districts of Ialoveni, Orhei and Hancesti. The program will be continued next year. Its goal is to present works of literature from both banks of the Prut to the people from Moldova’s rural areas.
