Romanian Foreign Minister to visit Chisinau

Romania's Foreign Minister Lazar Comanescu will pay an official visit to the Republic of Moldova on July 7 at the invitation of his Moldovan counterpart Andrei Stratan, Info-Prim Neo reports. The invitation was made on Wednesday, June 10, during a telephone conversation between the two officials. According to the Moldovan MFA's press service, the ministers discussed “key issues between the two countries and other issues of mutual interest”. Minister Stratan made the invitation “with a view to further deepening the Moldo-Romanian dialogue”, the MFA's press release reads. On May 28, Moldova's Foreign Deputy Minister Valeriu Ostalep paid a working visit to Bucharest at the invitation of the Romanian authorities to discuss with his counterpart, State Secretary Dana Raduta Matache. Although pre-visit press releases said the agenda would include talks on the Small Border Traffic Convention, there has been no official word of it after the visit. Instead, it was said the officials discussed concrete ways of assisting Moldova on its path towards European integration and reform, and also prospects of advancing in the process of negotiations on the basic political treaty and the border treaty.
