The Ministry of Energy of Romania announced that the Republic of Moldova will be given priority access to the gas stored in Romania, in case of need, within the limits of the available supplies, after domestic consumption is ensured. The measure is part of Romania's action plan in the context of the energy crisis in the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Energy of Moldova, among the measures stipulated in this plan are the purchase of electricity, if necessary, on a commercial basis and the identification of technical solutions for energy supply through existing networks.
Romania’s Minister of Energy Sebastian Burduja assured that he maintains close cooperation relations with the relevant authorities in Chisinau in order to manage the crisis situation, in case Gazprom stops the delivery of natural gas to the Transnistrian region.
For its part, economedia.ro says that currently, Romania's export capacity to the Republic of Moldova does not exceed 400 MW, which is "completely insufficient if Moldova has to rely only on the Romanians to light the bulb".
