The President of Romania Klaus Iohannis said Romania stands by the Republic of Moldova and firmly condemns any destabilization attempt initiated from outside the country. “The public signals concerning any attempts by the Russian Federation to intervene illegally to upset the democratic and constitutional order in the Republic of Moldova, which is a sovereign state that chose the political direction by free vote, are extremely worrisome,” says a message issued by the Romanian official, which is quoted by IPN.
Klaus Iohannis noted the threats to destabilize the European course of the Republic of Moldova, primarily in this difficult period that is marked by profound security and economic crises worldwide, should not be neglected at all. “I reaffirm in the clearest way possible that the Republic of Moldova is not alone in the face of these provocations. I also reiterate Romania’s solid support for the observance of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova within its internationally recognized borders and for its pro-European future,” said the President of Romania.
According to him, the place of the Republic of Moldova is in the big family of the European Union. This road is irreversible and should be followed with consistency, courage and ambition. In this accession process, the Republic of Moldova can bank, as until now, on the full solidarity and active support of the Romanian state.
“Romania supports the reform efforts and democratic consolidation on the road assumed by Chisinau towards a modern, prosperous society based on the European democratic values. I assure the citizens of the Republic of Moldova that Romania and the Romanians remain by them,” stated Klaus Iohannis.
