Romania offers Moldova legislative base adjusted to European one
The Parliament of Romania is ready to provide the legislative body of Moldova with the legislative base that was already adjusted to the European one and was accepted by the European community. Thus, the Moldovan authorities will not need to translate and coordinate a volume of over 150,000 pages of legislation. Related statements were made by the Chairman of the Romanian Senate's commission for foreign policy Titus Corlatean in a meeting with First Deputy Speaker of Moldova Vlad Plahotniuc on February 14. Titus Corlatean is heading a delegation of senators who are in Moldova on an official visit, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique issued by the Parliament's press service.
“I'm glad that the dialogue between the Parliament of Moldova and the Senate of Romania was reinvigorated. We consider it is our duty to make concerted effort to resume the work of the Moldova-Romania Parliamentary Cooperation Committee. The formulation of the agenda of this Committee and of the renewed Moldova-Romania Friendship Group will represent a priority for the present legislature,” said Vlad Plahotniuc.
“After the Alliance for European Integration was formed, the interparliamentray cooperation between Moldova and Romania has continuously developed. Senior officials paid mutual visits and there were signed agreements of prime importance, like the protocol on cooperation and partnership between the Parliament of Moldova and the Parliament of Romania (April 2010) and the bilateral cooperation agreement between the Secretariat General of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of Romania and the Apparatus of the Parliament of Moldova (July 2010),” said Vlad Plahotniuc.
Senator Titus Corlatean said the discussion centered mainly on Moldova's European integration and was productive. “I informed that the Romanian Parliament's approaches are rather consistent. Last week, we had a meeting with the European Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmstrom and discussed the liberalization of the visa regime for Moldovan travelers in the Schengen area. We are glad that our request to accelerate the talks on this issue is treated very seriously in Brussels,” he stated.
