Roman Chirca: Macro-financial parameters look well after long period of turbulences

The macro-financial parameters in the Republic of Moldova look rather well after a long period of turbulences, director of the Market Economy Institute Roman Chirca stated in the program “Emphasis on today” on TVR Moldova channel, IPN reports.

According to Roman Chirca, there were a number of factors that led to a rise in state budget revenues and the economy recovered after two years of stagnation. Remittances also increased. The Moldovan leu appreciated against the main international currencies. These are key factors that led to an aggregated rise in demand that resulted in higher consumption,” stated Roman Chirca.

Programs director at the independent think tank “Expert-Grup” Dumitru Budeanchi said the budget revenues rose by over 2 billion lei from taxes and this is a slightly unexpected figure. “For an economic growth of 2.8%, such a rise in revenues is a surprise for the authorities too, I think,” he stated.

Revenues increased mainly because consumption grew following the rise in salaries. “I think the economic growth wouldn’t have fueled such an increase in budget revenues. This is gladdening,” stated Dumitru Budeanschi.

The Government approved amendments concerning higher revenues to the state budget for 2017.
