Rodion Onchulenko wins two medals at Tatami Cup karate tournament

Moldova has won a silver medal and four bronze medals at the international tournament Tatami Cup held in Budapest, IPN reports.

In the Under 21 competition, Rodion Onchulenko qualified for the final. He was beaten only by Hungary’s Martin Erdos in the 75 kg weight class. Rodion also took part in the seniors competition, where he ranked third. Andrea Axenti, Alex Garștea and Gavril Sari also mounted the winner’s rostrum.

The tournament in Hungary involved 800 athletes. Moldova’s team consisted of Gavril Sari, Rodion Onchulekco, Andrea Axenti, Ion Hasan, Alexandr Lenskii, Andrei Zgureanu, Vladislav Timko, Alex Garștea, Octavian Garștea, Artiom Plevan and coach Andrii Lazorenko.
