A 43-year-old man has been sentenced to 3 years and 6 months in prison for making nine false bomb threats in Chisinau between October and November 2022, IPN reports.
The General Prosecutor’s Office stated that the defendant made multiple calls to the emergency number 112, falsely reporting the placement of explosives in shopping centers, courthouses, and universities.
The false threats prompted law enforcement interventions and the evacuation of people from the targeted buildings. However, no explosive materials were found upon inspection.
In July 2023, the man was initially given a suspended sentence. Following an appeal by prosecutors, the case was retried, and a new sentence was issued, requiring him to serve his prison term in a penitentiary.
The sentence is not final and can be appealed to the Chisinau Court of Appeal, Centru branch.
