Retail trade on the increase
The retail outlets in Moldova over January-August 2007 sold goods worth about 10.3 bln lei or by 11.7% more compared with the corresponding period last year.
The private shops reported a 13.4% rise in sales. Private trade accounts for 70% of the total retail trade. The joint retail outlets, with foreign capital, saw their sales rise by 11.6%, to 24.5% of the total sales. The joint public and private shops witnessed a 15.4% decrease in sales.
The services provided for the population for payment in the first eight months of this year totaled about 6.1 bln lei or by 5.4% more on last year, the same period. The services offered by public institutions increased by 1.8% and made up 41.6% of the total services.
The services provided by private units rose by 17.3%, making up 33% of the total services.
But the services provided by joint ventures with foreign capital fell by 2.9%.
