Restrictions in Chisinau in connection with Romanian presidential elections

Meetings, fairs, electoral activities and demonstrations near the four polling places established in Chisinau for the November 2 Romanian presidential elections are banned. Under an ordinance made by Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca, the people who do not have Romanian nationality and cannot vote will be able to approach the polling places only at a distance of 500 meters from them, IPN reports.

The restrictions will be valid from 7am until 9pm. The General Police Inspectorate will maintain public order and will inform the private individuals and legal entities intending to stage meetings near the polling places about the restrictions.

The ordinance was made following approaches from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration and the General Police Inspectorate in connection with the Romanian presidential elections.

A number of 21 polling places will be established in Moldova for the November 2 elections of Romania. In Chisinau, one polling place will be set up inside the Embassy of Romania at 66/1 Bucuresti St, two polling places – inside the Romanian Consulate at 2 Gr. Ureche St, and one polling place - at the Romanian Cultural Institute situated at 43 Vlaicu Parcalab St.
