The authorities imposed restrictions on large trucks that travel on the national roads. A unit of transport should not weigh more than 20 tonnes during the days when over 30 degrees Celsius are forecast. The large trucks could not travel between 10am and 8pm, IPN reports.
According to the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure, the move is aimed at protecting the layer of asphalt. To ensure the integrity of local roads, the local public authorities are recommended to impose travel restrictions on local asphalted roads for heavy trucks.
The limitations to dot apply to vehicles that transport passengers, food products or living animals, those outfitted with first aid equipment and those involved in the prevention or alleviation of exceptional situations, the rehabilitation of roads in the boundaries of building sites, etc.
