Residents of three localities to vote in tents at presidential elections

In three localities of the Republic of Moldova, the polling stations for the presidential elections will be housed by tents. The Central Election Commission said such a decision was taken because these villages do not have buildings that would meet the requirements, IPN reports.

In Bogdanovca Nouă village that is part of Cimișlia town and in Bâc village that forms part of Bubuieci commune of the municipality of Chisinau, the spaces provided by the local public administration do not meet the security requirements. In Cigârleni village of Ialoveni district, the roof of the local house of culture, where the polling station was to be established, caved in.

The CEC asked the General Inspectorate for Emergency to provide the local public authorities with a tent outfitted with heating and electrical equipment.

As many as 2,143 polling stations will be established for the presidential elections of November 1. Of these, 139 polling stations are intended for Moldovans abroad, while 42 for voters from the Transnistrian region, the municipality of Bender and a number of localities of Căușeni district.
