Residents of an urban block in Rascani sector of the capital have been evacuated this morning, September 20, after a fire broke out in an apartment on the fifth floor, IPN reports.

According to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations/IGSU, the fire started on Miron Costin street, at about 06.00. The flames spread within a three-room apartment. Arriving at the scene, the firefighters evacuated the residents from the neighbouring apartments. The blaze was contained at 07.20. The circumstances and the cause of the fire are under investigation.

Four days ago, a similar fire occurred in a nine-storey apartment block on Albișoara street in Chisinau. According to IGSU, the fire started in a five-room apartment on the first floor. There were no casualties.
