“I Greet You, Chisinau!” festival starts on Eugen Doga pedestrian street in central Chisinau on Friday, at 19.00. The “Advahov Brothers Orchestra” will take the stage together with Zinaida Julea, Nicolae Gribincea with “Plăiesi”, Maria Iliuț with “Crenguță de Iederăˮ. A food court area, a fair of craftspeople and a number of exhibitions will be staged, IPN reports.
Visitors will be able to discover and rediscover the city’s past through exhibitions, guided tours and interactive presentations. On each of the three days, July 19-21, the events will begin with a trip into the history of the city. Traditional culture and folklore will be promoted through craft fairs and tastings of traditional dishes.
The recitals will offer the audience unique moments full of emotions. Classical music will be presented by the “Chisinau Camerata”, “Doina” Academic Choral Chapel, the National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, Mariana Bulicanu, Dumitru Mîțu, Ana Chernicova. The last day of the festival will bring modern rhythms with the “Concertino Accordion Band”, Natalia Barbu, “Lupii lui Calancea” and Guz.
The festival “I Greet You, Chisinau!” is devoted to the city and its inhabitants, being an opportunity to celebrate together the rich cultural heritage of the capital city, said the General Division of Education, Youth and Sports, which will participate in the festival with various activities. The children’s creation centers of the Division on the alley of Grigore Vieru Boulevard will stage creative workshops for children, to make wooden toys and ornament them, thematic painting workshops “Chisinau in colors”, face painting and other events. “B.P. Hasdeu” Municipal Library and the Public Association “Viata ta” will organize a poetry marathon. Mascots will color the atmosphere and take photos with the children, while the exhibition with works of students of the School of Fine Arts “Alexei Shchusev” will delight the eyes of the visitors.
For the first time, specialists of the municipal enterprise “Apa-Canal Chisinau” will participate in the festival with a specially arranged stand, where they will answer consumers’ questions and provide information about the enterprise’s work, the technological processes to which water is subjected so that it is of a high quality, its role for life and the importance of protecting the water resources. Apart from the information activities, at the water supplier’s stand those who are looking for a job will be able to study the vacancies available at the enterprise and the requirements for filling them.
For three days, specialists of the General Division for the Protection of Children’s Rights, including psychologists, will present the social services offered by the municipality and will communicate directly with the people interested in these services.
The 4th edition of the festival “I Greet You, Chisinau!” is dedicated to the 588th anniversary of the first documentary attestation of the capital city.
