Rerun university admissions contest opens on August 5

The rerun contest of admissions to the higher educational institutions that did not enroll the necessary number of students will be held between August 5 and 12. The faculties of exact sciences, humanities, natural sciences and agricultural sciences reported the largest number of vacant places, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting the Ministry of Education and Youth. The first admission round closed on July 29. About 28,000 candidates applied to 170 faculties, including 21,895 – in fulltime education and 6,186 – in part-time education. The vacant places total 25,360. The largest number of applications, about 5,000, were submitted to the State University of Moldova (USM). The USM admission plan envisions 3,820 places, including on a contract basis. As many as 4,800 young people applied to the Technical University of Moldova, by 70 applicants more than stipulated in the admission plan. The number of applications to the Academy of Economic Science of Moldova was two times larger than the number of vacant places. There were filed about 4,000 applications. The faculties of international relations, law, banks and finances, business and management, marketing and logistics, stomatology and general medicine were the most popular.
