Report on situation in Transnistria to be presented in Parliament Friday

The April 6 sitting of Parliament will be held behind closed doors. Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Eugen Carpov will render a report on the situation in the Transnistrian region, Info-Prim Neo reports. ”The subject is a specific one. We suggested holding not a formal discussion, but a discussion allowing debating all the details. I do not want reports for the sake of reports,” Head of Parliament Marian Lupu said after the meeting of the Alliance for European Integration on Wednesday. The head of the Liberal parliamentary group Ion Hadarca said the lawmakers should know details about the situation in Transnistria. “The leaders have meetings during football matches and concerts, but we don’t know how the reintegration process goes on,” he stated. The leader of the Liberal-Democratic parliamentary group Valeriu Strelet said all the MPs will find out if such meetings at concerts and football games influenced the Transnistrian conflict settlement process somehow. Earlier, Prime Minister Vlad Filat met with the former Transnistrian leader Igor Smirnov during football matches for several times. Recently, he had an informal meeting with the new leader Yevgeny Shevchuk at a concert given by singer Lara Fabian in Chisinau.
