The leader of the Political Party “Our Party” Renato Usatyi and his supporters face fines of up to 20,000 lei and up to six years in jail for blocking Stefan cel Mare Blvd in Chisinau, IPN reports.
The police initiated a number of documentation procedures. “Depending on the how the actions to block transport arteries are classed, the persons who took them can be penalized in accordance with Article 271 (deliberate blocking of transport arteries) and Article 287 (hooliganism) of the Penal Code, which stipulate a fine of up to 20,000 lei and up to six years’ imprisonment, or in accordance with Article 225 of the Contravention Code, which stipulates a fine of 1,000 to 2,000 lei,” said Adrian Jovmir, head of the press service of the Chisinau Police Division.
There were also violated the traffic rules that ban stopping and ban truck traffic. These violations are penalized with a fine of up to 500 lei and three penalty points for drivers.
For illegally mounting demonstrations, the involved persons face a fine of up to 1,000 lei, in accordance with Article 67 of the Contravention Code.
The police are to investigate the illegal actions.
