The Cernica Monastery organized a memorial service for the Basarabian martyrs, buried there are personalities who led the Council of the Country and significantly contributed to the union of Bessarabia with Romania. The event was also attended by Romania's interim president Ilie Bolojan, IPN reports.
The Romanian official, together with Moldovan Ambassador to Bucharest Victor Chirila, laid flowers at the graves of Gurie Grosu, Pantelimon Halippa, Daniel Ciugureanu and Ioan Pelivan.
"As a sign of respect for their sacrifice and for what they did for our nation," said Ilie Bolojan.
March 27 marks the 107th anniversary of the Union of Bessarabia with Romania. In this context several events will be organized in Chisinau. In the square of the "Gheorghe Asachi" High School in Chisinau, the monument of Queen Maria will be inaugurated. The next day, in the Aula Regina Maria of the State University of Moldova will be held the International Symposium: Regina Maria - Queen of the Great Union.
