Animal breeders are warned that the identification and registration of their animals are mandatory, the procedure being free of charge. This is possible through the local veterinarian and applies to cattle, sheep, goats, pigs and horses, IPN reports.
According to the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, this procedure is essential for protecting animal health and allows for tracing the origin of animals and rapid intervention in case of diseases.
At the same time, only owners who register their animals will be able to receive compensation from the state in situations such as African swine fever, avian flu or rabies.
Registration is done at the request of the veterinarian, within 20 days of the birth of the animal, except for pigs, lambs and kids, which can be registered within 60 days.
Otherwise, the authorities warn that the owners face bans on the transportation and sale of animals, including penalties and restrictions.
