The Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ) will consider the registration of Andrei Donică as a canidate for the mayoralty of Chsinau as the Chisinau Appeals Court upheld the decision of the first court, which anulled the Chisinau District Electoral Council’s decision not to register Donică as an election contender. The Council challenged the Appeals Court’s decision in the SCJ.
A number of 27 candidates have been registered in the electoral competition for the mayoralty of Chisinau so far. Andrei Donică of the Professionals’ Movement “Speranța-Nadejda” could be the 28th candidate on the ballot.
IPN asked for a comment from representatives of the Central Election Commission given that a final decision hasn’t been yet taken, while the ballots are being printed.
“The Central Election Commission assures that the printing of ballots will be finished on time and all the registered election contestants will be on the ballot,” said the head of the Commission’s Public Relations and the Media Division Rodica Sîrbu.
The Chisinau District Electoral Council decided not to register Donică as an election contender for the mayoralty of the capital city for the reason that he had been registered as a candidate for mayor of Condrița village.
