Minister of Economy and Infrastructure Kiril Gaburici sought explanations from the 112 Common Emergency Telephone Service as regards the refusal by an operator to provide assistance to a pregnant woman.
According to the official, such behavior on the part of a 112 operator is inadmissible. The minister requested the administration of the Service to present the investigation results, the imposed penalties and the actions that will be taken to avoid such situations in the future as a matter of urgency.
The reactions came after the press reported that a pregnant woman complained that she called 112 and asked for assistance. The operator refused to send an ambulance to her and advised her to take a taxi and go to see a doctor. The woman reached the hospital by trolleybus and shortly gave birth.
In a response to an inquiry made by IPN, the administration of the 112 Service said it regrets the given case and informed that an internal inquiry was launched. The operator was suspended from post for the period of the investigation.
