The adoption by the European Parliament of a resolution that enables Moldova to file an application to join the community in the current conditions shows that the EU fears that Moldova will not resist and will stop making progress on the path to European integration, expert of the Institute for Development and Social Initiative “Vitorul” Corneliu Ciurea said in the program, “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel.

“The given resolution is an enormous gift for Moldova. We expected the EU to present it in autumn, before the parliamentary elections. The hurry in which the resolution was adopted shows concerns that Moldova is very fragile and may yield to the pressure exerted from outside,” stated Ciurea.

Director of the Center for Strategic Researches and Political Consultancy “Politicon” Anatol Taranu considers that Moldova should come closer to NATO until the signing of the Association Agreement with the EU. This will guarantee a favorable climate for the integration process.

“Before coming to the EU, you must guarantee your own safety. In order to become a member of this selective group, you must have a certain degree of security. Moldova can become an EU member if it has guaranteed security,” stated Anatol Taranu.

Jurist Pavel Midrigan said in the same program that the Moldovan authorities must realize the responsibility they bear in the process of implementing reforms in justice, economy and the social sector. “A number of countries submitted applications for joining the EU and are waiting. This resolution does not mean that Moldova will be accepted into the EU even if the reforms are not done successfully,” he added.

Expert Cristian Tabara said Moldova achieved important successes and deserves submitting an application for entering the EU.

On April 17, the European Parliament adopted a resolution saying that Moldova has the right to apply for membership in the European Union.
