Prime Minister Dorin Recean has claimed that an unnamed criminal group plans to call “hundreds of thousands” of voters on election day to “intimidate, deceive or promise electoral bribes” to them.
“Don’t fall into the trap of such banditry”, urged the prime minister in a warning published Thursday.
“A group of crooks is trying to deceive people, promise them money, give them false information, call them and lie to them. I urge everyone to be on the watch. This group tells lies and calls people to do illegal things. Please don’t be fooled by them”, said the prime minister.
According to him, the nation is now at a crossroads and only the citizens of Moldova must decide on the country’s future. “Lately, attempts at destabilization by criminal groups controlled from outside have intensified. Over the past month alone, the authorities have documented 15 million euros, and 130,000 people that were paid to sell their vote, in an attempt to cause chaos and prevent our country from becoming part of the civilized world, where there is peace and people live in good understanding and well-being”, declared Recean.
