The electoral contenders could not campaign in the Transnistrian region as this is not controlled by the constitutional authorities and the people there do not have access to the mass media on the right side of the Nistru. The Transnistrian voters don’t know details about the candidates for President and what kind of elections take place and have no idea what is happening on the right side of the Nistru, said district councilor Simion Brînza, who is on the border between Varnița and Bender, where a number of persons, among whom locals and veterans, are trying to prevent the Transnistrian voters from entering Varnița, where polling stations were established for them, IPN reports.

A total of 42 polling stations where established for the voters residing in the Transnistrian region. The councilor said about 150,000 people who do not know what kind of elections are held here are expected to vote.

Dumitru Urâtu from Varnița said the people are indignant as the CEC ignored their opposition to the opening of polling stations for Transnistrian voters given the pandemic and established four polling stations. “It means the health of children, grandchildren, teachers is put in a serious danger,” he stated.

In the morning, a man used teargas in a conflict with locals after he was warned not to speak Russian and not to film the veterans.

The police at the scene are making effort to ensure the movement of units of transport with Transnistrian voters to polling stations.
