After Mihail Bagas was arrested, the Party “League of Cities and Communes” (LOC), which put him forward for the mayoralty of Chisinau, came with a reaction. The party expressed its hope that the investigation body will do its job in an impartial and equidistant way, in strict compliance with the law and the procedural norms, IPN reports.
“At the same time, we express our concern about the taken operative measures and the arrest of the LOC candidate in two days of the submission of the documents for participation in the local elections. Each person and, implicitly, each candidate are liable to criminal punishment only when there is pertinent evidence of the violation of the legal provisions and the electoral legislation,” said the Party “League of Cities and Communes”.
It called on the investigation body to ensure the procedures are transparent, public and based on evidence or such actions taken in the electoral period can be described as public pressure and attempt to seriously damage the image of the political party.
