Searches continue in a case concerning electoral corruption. Law enforcers announce searches in 18 locations in Edinet district. Four persons were detained. During the searches several cell phones were found and seized, IPN reports with reference to the Prosecutor General's Office press release.

According to the case materials, in October, several suspects, representatives of electoral contestants, while in different localities of Edinet district, sent several people between 1000 and 3000 lei in order to induce them to vote for a particular candidate for the office of President of the Republic of Moldova.

Earlier in this case, 6 defendants and 2 suspects were recognized and interviewed, and 13 searches were carried out, during which money, mobile phones, party membership cards, lists and documents with the names of several people were found and seized.

The criminal investigation is continuing in order to clarify all the circumstances, informs the General Prosecutor's Office.
