Moldova’s best tennis player Radu Albot has won a new important trophy in his career, at the international tournament in India’s Calcutta, where he beat two athletes with better positions in the ATP rankings, IPN reports.
In the final, Albot defeated Australia’s James Duckworth (111st) by 7-6 (7-0), 6-1. In the quarterfinals, the 25-year-old athlete won against Russia’s Aleksandr Kudreavtsev (135th).
Radu Albot now takes the 164th position in the rankings of the Association of Tennis Professionals, but will definitely go up following the victory in India. He won his first Challenger trophy two years ago, in Uzbekistan’s Fergana.
In his career, Radu Albot has won 14 international Futures tournaments and 13 doubles competitions (6 Challenger ones and 7 Futures ones). In the doubles, he is among the best 100 tennis players of the world.
