The campaign to vaccinate foxes against rabies has started in the country. The rabies vaccine baits will be distributed manually until November 10, IPN reports.
According to the National Food Safety Agency, the rabies immunization of foxes will be carried out in areas with a high risk of rabies. The baits will be distributed manually by veterinarians of the Agency, in cooperation with employees of forestry companies and the Society of Hunters and Fishermen of Moldova.
For two weeks, the Agency asks to restrict the free movement of dogs and cats in the areas where the baits were distributed. In case of accidental consumption, owners should know that the vaccine will not cause any harm.
The citizens are recommended, if they find a bait in an area where there are children or pets, to take it with a bag and move it to another place. If the package of the bait is damaged, a veterinarian should be contacted.
The actions related to the Rabies Eradication Program are co-financed by the European Union and supported by Romania.
